About Us

Dogs PlayingThe Scappoose Off-Leash Dog Park is located at the North end of Veterans Park, on SE J.P. West Road in Scappoose, Oregon. It was dedicated in 2011 by SCAPPOOSE D.O.G. (Dog Owners Group) in cooperation with the City of Scappoose.
Scappoose D.O.G. began in 2009 with 3 local dog lovers and in 2011 became a 501(c)3 community-based non-profit, dedicated to maintenance and improvements of the dog park. We invite community input and involvement as we continue our work and fundraising to improve the park for all our dogs and their families.

Tax deductible donations are welcome and can be made at St. Helens Community Credit Union or via PayPal. We are very grateful for our community sponsors!

Projects and Fundraising

Working on shelter The Scappoose Off-Leash Dog Park has become a popular social site for our community’s dogs and their families. It is used year-round in all weather conditions. Use of the park continues to grow each year.

Past projects of Scappoose D.O.G. include fencing for the large and small off-leash enclosures, a kiosk/bulletin board at the entry, weather shelters for both enclosures, and a custom-painted Pmail fire hydrant in the large enclosure.

Our immediate project of interest is a sprinkler system that will cover the area on the north side of the drainage creek. Winter wear and tear is particularly hard on our grass, and irrigation will help keep the grass growing so that we get less mud. We also hope to provide a water spigot to the small enclosure and expand the large enclosure in the near future. Over-seeding, fertilizing, and maintenance is always ongoing.

For 2016, we are planning one fundraising social event, an October HOWL-O-WEEN 5K fun run/walk along the Multnomah Channel Dike and Crown-Zellerbach Trail.
